Cox London
Designers & Makers · UK“Sculptors Nicola and Christopher Cox founded their studio in 2005, building bespoke sculptural furniture and lighting that carries their fine-art training in every piece.”
Why Cox London is in the Design 100
Nicola and Christopher Cox met as sculptors, and that background is still the clearest way to understand the studio they founded together in 2005. Cox London works almost entirely in cast bronze and hand-forged metal, and the pieces read as sculpture first, furniture and lighting second — chandeliers and consoles built from leaves, antlers, coral and other organic forms rather than from a furniture brief.
Everything is made to order in their own workshop in Tottenham, where casting, finishing and forging happen under one roof rather than being farmed out to specialist foundries. That control over process is what lets the studio push finishes — bronze worked through hand-applied patinas, glass hand-pulled into leaf and botanical forms — as far as a one-off sculpture rather than a production run. It is craft-led design in the most literal sense, and it has earned Cox London a place among the makers this index exists to track.
