Why Anne-Laure Pingreoun, Mayfair Design District is in the Design 100
Anne-Laure Pingreoun founded Alter-Projects in 2014, working as a strategist, curator and producer who connects brands with artists and designers rather than commissioning work from them outright. That instinct for cross-disciplinary curation carried into the Mayfair Design District, which she co-founded in 2017 with James Malcolm Green. What began as a London Design Festival fixture has grown into a year-round programme of exhibitions, talks and placemaking across Mayfair’s galleries, showrooms and hotels.
The District’s reach shows in who takes part: Lalique and David Gill Gallery alongside Achille Salvagni Atelier, FUMI and HOLLY HUNT, each folded into a single calendar rather than left to promote itself. Pingreoun curates that programme every year, and continues to run Alter-Projects alongside it, with clients that have included BMW, LVMH and Diageo. Sustaining both, a district-wide programme and an independent studio, at once is exactly the kind of work the Design 100 is built to recognise.
