Why Ezequiel Farca Studio is in the Design 100

Ezequiel Farca trained in industrial design at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and, on a scholarship, at Western Washington University, before completing a master’s in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona. He opened his first studio in Mexico City’s Polanco district in 1995, building outward from furniture design into full interior architecture. Cristina Grappin later joined as design and business partner, and the practice now works from Mexico City with further outposts in Los Angeles and Milan.

The studio’s range is unusual for its consistency: hospitality interiors, private residences and custom furniture sit alongside yacht projects, including work for Benetti, all handled with the same collaboration with Mexican artisans and the same preference for natural, tactile materials. That range, and the discipline holding it together across such different scales, is what earns Ezequiel Farca Studio its place in the Design 100.
